The Undyed or Untreated Collection

Dyes, specifically azo dyes, can be harmful to our skin and the environment. Certain azo dyes can release aromatic amines, which are considered to be potentially carcinogenic.

We get it, it's nice to have a pop of colour in our outfits, but where possible we like to create staples from natural colours of cotton and linen. The natural colours of linen and cotton in itself are very beautiful. They go with every outfit and are the most gentle for sensitive skin.

These items are therefore a must have for every wardrobe.

P.S. Our more colourful basics are made from azo-free, GOTS approved dyes. We also now have a collection of plant-dyed underwear.

    Why choose undyed organic cotton?

Even when you’re using low-impact or GOTS-approved Azo-Free dyes (which we do for our dyed styles), there’s still a process involved: water, energy, and chemicals. We wanted to see what would happen if we stripped things back to their simplest form.

Undyed organic cotton skips the dyeing stage altogether, which means:

    • No added colorants or finishing agents that can irritate skin.
    • Reduced water and chemical use in production (according to the European Parliament, dyeing is estimated to account for up to 20% of global water pollution).
    • A softer, more natural feel that’s as close to cotton on the plant as possible.

For anyone with sensitive skin, eczema, or allergies, undyed cotton can be one of the gentlest options available. Undyed clothes avoid the use of any additional allergens or irritants, providing a much gentler option for those prone to skin reactions and allergies.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful information about the Natural, Dye Free Collection.

    What does “dye-free” mean?

Our natural, dye-free pieces are made without any added dyes or colour treatments. The cotton keeps its natural, raw shade. Variations in shade and small flecks are normal and reflect the fabric’s pure, untreated state.

Are dye-free undergarments and socks better for sensitive skin?

They can be. By skipping dyes and unnecessary processing, dye-free fabrics reduce the risk of irritation, especially for those with sensitive skin.

Is this collection good for eczema-prone skin?

While we can’t guarantee results for everyone, many customers with sensitive or eczema-prone skin prefer dye-free options because they’re less processed and contain a higher cotton composition, making them more breathable.

Why is the colour off-white or slightly speckled?

That’s completely natural. Since the fabric isn’t dyed or bleached, you may see slight variations or speckles from the original cotton fibres.

    Does dye-free mean unbleached?

Yes, our dye-free styles are also free from harsh bleaching processes, keeping the fabric as close to its natural state as possible.
