Benefits of GOTS Certified Organic Cotton

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the strictest organic certification for textiles, covering the entire supply chain, not just the cotton fibre. Here's what that means for the bras you wear every day:

    • No synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Better for farmers, soil, and your skin.
    • No harsh chemicals. No chlorine bleach, formaldehyde, or azo dyes used in dyeing or finishing.
    • Hypoallergenic and breathable. Soft on sensitive skin, with airflow that synthetics can't match.
    • Ethically made. Fair labour standards enforced from farm to finished garment.

    Why Choose Organic Cotton Bras?

"The best bra is no bra, and we can probably all agree on that. However, we don't always have that option. That's why we set out to create something as close as possible to the feeling of not wearing a bra.

I wanted a bra that actually felt good to wear, not just tolerable. Something made from organic, non-toxic materials that I was comfortable having against my skin all day, with enough support that I didn't feel like I was compromising.

Organic cotton was the natural answer. Soft, breathable, and free from the synthetic-heavy materials most other bras are made with. If you have to wear one, it should at least feel like you're barely wearing anything at all.

We list every component of our bras: the body fabric, elastic, thread, and closures, because we think you should know exactly what you're wearing. Our bras are GOTS certified from farm to finished garment, and are made in Tirupur, India."

    Why Choose Organic Cotton Bras?

Which style is right for you?

    Criss-Cross Bralette

    Criss-Cross Bralette

Everyday wear · Light, relaxed support

This is the most relaxed style we make. No hardware, no underwire. Just a pullover organic cotton bra with a criss-cross back and adjustable straps. Works well under loose or medium-fitted tops, or any day when you want something that feels like barely wearing anything at all. Comes with openings to insert your own padding (inserts not included). Best suited for A–D cups.

    Racerback Sports Bra

    Racerback Sports Bra

    Low-to-medium-impact activity · Medium support

Built for low-to-medium-impact activity: yoga, pilates, walking. Not intended for running or high-impact workouts. The racerback cut gives more shoulder freedom, with openings to insert your own padding (inserts not included). The 5% elastane is what lets it move with you.

    Pointelle Bra

    Pointelle Bra

Everyday wear, adjustable closure · Light-to-medium support

More structure than the Criss-Cross, still wire-free. The pointelle open-weave cotton is breathable and delicate, with an organic cotton lace neckline. It is the closest thing to lingerie we make. An adjustable closure so you can find the most comfortable fit for yourself.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful information before choosing the right bra.

Why are 100% cotton bras hard to find?

For as long as we can remember, we have been told that bras need to give shape, lift, and support. These were the benefits of heavily treated and flexible plastics like polyester, polyamide, and nylon. Natural fibres like cotton simply do not have the same elasticity and recovery to provide the same shape, lift, and support. The more this is seen as a necessary option (even at a cost to our health) the more synthetic bras will keep getting designed. Furthermore, polyester and other synthetic fibres are cheaper, especially when compared with organic natural fibres. We are slowly changing that at Q for Quinn, but we need our customers to understand that we still have to work within the limitations of natural fibres, and this means a change in expectations.

What is the cotton composition of the bras?

The body fabric in all three styles is organic cotton. The Criss-Cross Bralette and Pointelle Bra use 100% organic cotton fabric; the Sports Bra uses 95% organic cotton with 5% elastane. All three are GOTS certified, which covers the full garment: farming, dyeing, and manufacturing, not just the fibre content. The elastic components contain some synthetic material. The specific breakdown is listed on each product page.

    Are the bras plastic free?

The Pointelle Bra comes closest to fully natural. Its elastic is 50% natural rubber and 50% organic cotton, which is more plant-derived than the polyester-elastane elastic used in the other two styles. The only non-biodegradable component in the Pointelle is the nylon-blend base of the hook-and-eye closure. The Criss-Cross Bralette is also available in a plastic-free Bio Trims version, which uses natural rubber-cotton elastic instead of polyester-elastane. Note: both plastic-free options contain natural rubber, so they are not suitable for customers with latex allergies.

Which styles are safe for latex allergies?

Please ensure you check the materials and care section of every product listing, as some of our bras contain a natural rubber-cotton underband and straps.

Are the bras GOTS certified organic?

All three styles are GOTS certified: the Criss-Cross, the Pointelle, and the Racerback Sports Bra. GOTS covers the entire garment and supply chain, from the cotton on the farm through dyeing, manufacturing, and the finished product. It is not a fibre-only certification. It means the full production process meets organic standards, and that the facilities and supply chain meet strict social and environmental criteria too.

Do any of the styles come with built-in cups or padding?

None of the three styles have built-in padding. The Criss-Cross Bralette and Racerback Sports Bra both have inner slits or openings to insert your own padding if you want them (inserts not included). The Pointelle has no built-in cups. We haven't yet found an organic alternative to moulded cups that works the way we'd want, so we haven't included them.

Which style is better for everyday wear versus working out?

The Criss-Cross Bralette and Pointelle Bra are both designed for everyday wear. The Criss-Cross is more relaxed; the Pointelle has a little more structure and an adjustable closure. The Racerback Sports Bra is built for low-to-medium-impact activity: yoga, pilates, walking. It is not recommended for running or high-impact workouts. If you're looking for one bra that works for everything, these styles aren't designed that way. Each one is optimized for a specific kind of wear.

    What size should I order?

All three styles run XS to 3XL and are generally suited for A to D cups. The Pointelle Bra fits differently from the other two because its natural rubber elastic responds to the body differently than polyester-elastane. If you're ordering the Pointelle, check the size chart specific to that style on the product page. For the Criss-Cross Bralette and Sports Bra, the underwear fit guide is a good starting point. If you're between sizes, check the size guide rather than defaulting to your usual sizing, since organic cotton bras behave differently from synthetic styles.

What about support and larger cup sizes?

Our bras currently go up to a D cup in sizes XS to 3XL. We're working on expanding to larger sizes, but we want to get it right rather than rush it. We are also working on releasing two bras for larger cup sizes:

If you have feedback on sizing, we'd love to hear from you.

Do your nipples show through bralettes?

It depends on the thickness of the fabric and whether the bralette is lined. Q for Quinn’s organic cotton bralettes are made from soft yet sturdy fabric that provides good coverage, but they do not contain padding. For added discretion, nipple covers can be used.
