Why should you buy certified organic socks for your baby, toddler or kid?

Buying organic cotton socks or clothing goes beyond caring for our environment. The amount of toxins in children’s clothing is astonishing. Take socks for example, a recent study found 9/10 socks had traces of BPA and Parabens – chemicals that are hormone disruptors and have been linked to variously illnesses. By buying certified organic you are purchasing socks that have been tested free of any harmful toxins or chemicals at every stage of the production process.

What does GOTS certified organic cotton and how is it different from regular organic cotton?

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. It is essentially the “gold” standard of organic cotton.

You can read more about the certification here

Eczema in baby’s feet? What causes eczema for babies and kids and how is it related to the socks they wear?

Irritation from sweat, from socks, and friction is a major cause for foot eczema. What can you do? Make sure the socks are of a high cotton content and breathable. Besides the socks, it is also important to make sure the shoes your baby wears is breathable. It is also good practice to change babies and kids socks often especially if they are in their socks and shoes all day every day.

Are our socks suitable for babies / kids with eczema?

While we cannot claim or guarantee that our socks will be 100% suitable for babies and kids with eczema we have a number of customers whose babies and kids suffer from eczema and have had no issues or flare ups with our socks. In fact, our founder, Melita’s son suffered from severe eczema and reactions to certain socks in the market. This encouraged Melita to create socks that were 100% breathable and with the maximum organic cotton content to avoid moisture being trapped in – the leading cause of foot eczema in babies, kids and adults.

If you have any questions or concerns at all, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Are our socks 100% cotton?

Our socks are made from 80% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, 18% Polyamide, 2% Spandex. You always need spandex for stretch and polyester/polyamide is used for strength and colour, which is why it is rare to find 100% cotton socks in the market. We are constantly striving to improving our product quality and increase the cotton composition of our socks without compromising on fit, durability and comfort.
